Great Trivia!

Laurie, I forgot to mention this small tidbit. I lived in a high rise in Columbia, Maryland years ago. There was a marvelous elderly woman named Margaret Bassler, and we became good friends. I found out her husband Sidney was a actor on Broadway (not major, but did small parts). He performed with George Reeves in "Winged Victory"! I asked her if she met him, and she told me he was a very gentle and kind man. She went on to say "Hollywood killed him." I wish she were still alive today, because over the years I became much more interested in his life (as you can tell!)

I do hope you come out to San Francisco,(or Walnut Creek, where I live!) You are certainly one of my favorite authors..

Thank You!

Thanks, Laurie, for your quick reply and your analysis. Yes, I'll go see them both.
I'm reminded of your comments in class saying that the police generally weren't called right away to these crime scenes. Instead the movie studio heads got the first call and they're the ones who controlled how the situation was handled. Very interesting. Can't help but think what would happen with 24/7 news cycles if these crimes had been commited today.
See you at the movies!
Alice

New movies

Hi Laurie,
I've been thinking about you lately and wondering what you think of the new movies that are coming out about the old Hollywood.
One opened on Sept. 9, "Hollywoodland" which features the mysterious death of George Reeves. It's gotten good reviews, especially Diane Lane and Ben Affleck's performances.
The other is coming out later in Sept., "Black Dahlia" telling the story of the murder of Elizabeth Short.
You discussed both in class and am curious if you've seen these movies and if so, I'd be interested in your take on them.

I'm on TV...

I've been sooooooooo out of touch! Sorry! Been swamped. Got a publisher for my next book: Timmy's in the Well, Jon Provost's autobiography and I am in book writing mode.

Meanwhile these movies which so many of you have been asking about: HOLLYWOODLAND and THE BLACK DAHLIA
have been generating a lot of interest...in me!

I'll be LIVE on Fox News this Saturday, Oct. 16th and I'll be on E!'s Hollywood's 20 Most Horrific Murderers Oct. 22nd.

Try to tune in!

More soon, I promise!
xoxo
Laurie
