Hi Laurie,
Just wanted your opinion of the new book by Donald Wolfe, "The Black Dahlia Files:The Mob, The Mogul, and the Murder That Transfixed Los Angeles"? (sure is a long title!) Is it worth the read?
I would love for you to do a book on child stars, or silent film stars like Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, etc. I liked Hollywood Heartbreak", but enjoyed "Dishing" even more. You really went into questionable deaths, like Inger Stevens, and Dorothy Kilgallen. I remember being a kid, and my family watching "What's My Line", with her and Henry Morgan. I also fondly remember Gary Moore on "I've Got A Secret". I remember how he was forgotten by the media, and he was VERY ill before he died... Monty Clift-what a talent, what a waste...
I also have a question, which has nothing to do with anything above! Do you know whatever happened to that VERY strange woman, Erin Fleming? She was Groucho's "manager", who in the end was sued by Groucho's son, Arthur.(I think)
Can't wait for your next book, even though I know you're helping others write theirs!

Dorrit

Re: Dorrit from Walnut Creek, CA by Laurie

Hi Dorrit,
I have not read it yet, but of all the books out there, this one looks the most interesting to me. I'd like to see what it has to say.

As for Erin Fleming, she was mentally unstable and was reportedly living as a bag lady in Los Angeles the last years of her life. She died from a self inflicted gunshot wound April 15, 2003.

By the way, have you read my second book, HOLLYWOOD HAUNTED? You haven't mentioned it and I think you'd really enjoy it. Currently, I am working on my husband's autobiography. Jon was Timmy on "Lassie" and it covers a rich period in Hollywood's history. I plan to have it out for Christmas: Timmy's in the Well -- The Jon Provost Story.
Great to hear from you. Take care!
Laurie

Hello Laurie,
Yes, I have both "Hollywood Haunted," and "Hollywood Heartbreak". Hollywood Heartbreak is my second favorite," Dishing" is the best!
My sister and I always felt differently on "Lassie". I loved Jon Provost, she loved Tommy Rettig. I guess it depends which Timmy you grew up with! I look forward to Jon's book. I saw him on the "Child Stars" program on A +E, and laughed about his lemonade stand! -Dorrit
